Review of my post- workout protein powder : Vega Sport® Performance Protein
Vega Sport is the first all-natural, plant-based performance enhancement system specifically developed to help athletes perform at their best—before, during and after training and competition. Vega Sport Performance Protein is plant-based and gluten-free and contains no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners.
Formulated by Brendan Brazier: vegan, former professional Ironman triathlete, and bestselling health author on plant-based nutrition.
Vega Sport® Performance Protein helps to build and repair strong muscles and reduce recovery time.
Old formula:
130 calories per scoop (34g/ 1.2 oz)
25g Protein, 5g BCAAs, 5g Glutamine, Digestive Enzyme Blend.
Certified Vegan, verified non-GMO, gluten-free, no sugar added.
New formula:
150 calories per scoop (41g/ 1.44oz)
30g Protein, 6g BCAAs, 6g Glutamine, Tart Cherry, Tumeric, Probiotics, Certified Vegan, verified non-GMO, gluten free, no sugar added.
Both formulas come in 4 flavors: Chocolate, Vanilla, Berry and Mocha.
I have been using Vega Sport® Performance Protein for about 2 years. It is the only protein powder that I use in my post workout shake. I can feel that it helps me recovering fast and it tastes good!
Recently, VEGA has changed the formula of their Sport® Performance Protein.
And there are some differences between the two formulas:
I have had the old formula in the chocolate, vanilla and berry flavor and recently tasted the new formula in the chocolate and vanilla flavor.
I think the old formula tastes better. No chalk taste at all! The consistency of the powder mixed with water or nut milk is creamy and very tasty! I always looked forward to my shake after working out :)
The taste of the new formula is overwhelmed by the flavor of the tart cherries. It is still good but I'd prefer that the chocolate tastes just like chocolate and the vanilla tastes just like vanilla. I find the taste of the stevia being strong. Personally I don't like Stevia. The consistency is lighter and fluffier, it has a mousse like texture.
Overall, the new formula is good.
It feels that I can recover faster between workouts
And I have to mention also that the new formula is cheaper than the old one.
