My unforgettable meeting with Jillian Michaels on her MAXIMIZE YOUR LIFE tour!
Last Sunday I went to see Jillian Michaels on her MAXIMIZE YOUR LIFE tour at the Beacon Theater in NYC.
What is that tour about?
In this intimate and uniquely personal experience, Jillian shows how to harness your potential, kick-start your goals and live an exceptional life – sharing her keys to health, success and happiness. No hype, no false promises: Just results.
I got a VIP ticket from my husband as a birthday gift.
I must say It was an unforgettable experience. I was able to have a picture taken with the lady herself and I got to tell her that I work out with her all the time. She replied "I can tell!". It does not really matter if she meant it, because she met hundreds of people on the tour, but it meant the world to me!
I've been working hard for the past 6 years to be healthy inside and outside, incorporate exercising in my daily routine, eating better, gradually changing my vegetarian diet to a vegan diet, writing on this blog to share my tips and knowledge about living on the green side and also motivate me.
I have even started to work out with a personal trainer to challenge myself and get better results.
Everything that Jillian told us during the show was a perfect summary of everything she has been talking about all those years about nutrition, Fitness and self/well-being.
It was not only about weight loss. Jillian is more than just a trainer, she is a nutritionist, a well-being expert, a life coach as well.
All the information she gave and all the knowledge she shares can be found in her workout DVDs, her books and her website.
I have read "UNLIMITED, how to build and exceptional life" and "Slim for life". I have learned so much from her wisdom. She gives you the tools to live the life you want but you have to do the work! So I have homework to do again.
I won't write about everything that Jillian said during the show. I strongly recommend to read her books. They will change you deeply, in every aspects of your life: yourself, your health, your family, your relationships, your work, etc...
I got very emotional at moments, because it touched sensible points about myself. Nobody's perfect, right?
However, I am willing to do the work. I'd love to talk to Jillian and get personal advice from her. This is a dream. And I've heard many times that dreams come true ;)
Jillian quotes Nietzsche:
"He who has a Why to live for can bear almost any How"-
It makes sense. That is what I am applying in my life, most of the time, especially when I don't want to work out.
My favorite quotes from Jillian are:
"Visualize what you want out of life and think big. Don’t feel undeserving. We're all deserving of living our dreams—some of us realize it and some don't. You’re not doing anyone any favors by living small. Embrace these truths and step up. The world is waiting."
Jillian started the show telling us we all deserve living the life of our dream. We are ALL deserving it. Nobody is better than another one.... We are all made up of the same matter and energy.
That is a point I need to work on...
“It's not about perfect. It's about effort. And when you bring that effort every single day, that's where transformation happens. That's how change occurs.”
“Selfish isn't a dirty word. It means we take care of ourselves and are able to give back.”
"Transformation isn't a future event, it's a present activity"
"Get comfortable with being uncomfortable!”
“Do you realize that there is nothing in our genes that tells us when to die? There are genetic codes that tell us how to grow, how to breathe, and how to sleep, but NOTHING that tells us to die. So why do we? Because we literally rust and decay our bodies from the inside out with poor food and lifestyle choices.”
"Don't blame anyone or anything for your situation or problems. When you do that, you are saying that you are powerless over your own life—which is utter crap. An empowering step to reclaiming your life is taking responsibility."
"Don't shut down your emotions. Embrace them. Your emotions are your internal compass telling you whether or not you are on track. Use them to help cultivate your passions or motivate you to change situations and circumstances that hold you back from achieving your goals."
"Unless you puke, faint, or die, keep going!"
"Don't repress your needs and feelings. They fester, becoming corrosive and destructive in your relationships. In a calm, loving way, tell the people in your life what you need. Don't expect people to read your mind. It only leads to disappointment and frustration. Empower them to empower you!"
There is much more empowering words Jillian says... I could go on and on....
Go see her on tour, there are 2 dates left ( 05/16/2014 in Anaheim, CA and 05/17/2014 in Los Angeles CA), read her books, visit her website, sign up to get personal tips on nutrition and fitness and get her DVDs! ;)
