Detox your body and mind after the holidays
Now that Christmas and New Year's celebrations are over, most of us are feeling tired, ill and longing for the Spring to come. We ate and drank more that our stomach could hold. We didn't care that much because well, after all, we were celebrating and feasting with our friends, families and loved ones.
But now what's left? Good memories and tiredness, weight gain and winter blues...
Don't despair! I have a few tips for you to share that you can add in your new year resolution list to feel better, clean and energize your body and mind, or at least give you a little boost to keep on with your day.
- Drink a glass of water (warm or room temperature) with lemon juice after getting up.
It stimulates the digestive system.
- Stretch
from head to toes for about 10 minutes before starting your day.
- Drink water, tea, herbal tea (both unsweetened).
The antioxidants called flavonoids that tea contains are immune boosters.
I like to drink black tea in mid morning, green in the afternoon, peppermint herbal tea in the evening for its soothing effects and lemon ginger herbal tea after a meal if I have a troubled digestion.
- Eat raw
Eat a green salad and drink a smoothie and/ or juice everyday.
A whole food diet provides the body all the nutrients it needs to nourish, support the regeneration of the cells and requires little energy to digest, so you have more energy for your daily activities, physical and mental.
- Move!
Be active! Whatever activities you choose to move your body are good! Regular exercise keeps us energized by increasing blood flow, bringing oxygen to our cells and prevents us from getting sick!
- Breathe!
Deeply and fully. After waking up, open a window and breathe deeply. Take five slow and deep breathe. Feel the air you inspire flowing through your body. Breathe the positive in and breathe the negative out. Feel present and alive! Feel good!
